About the Owner, Hali Lookabaugh
Hali Lookabaugh grew up in the art business. Her mother has owned a successful art gallery for over 20 years. From a very young age, Lookabaugh was completely immersed in the business and her role eventually evolved into full time gallery director. However, she knew she always wanted to own her own gallery. After many years of vacationing to Hilton Head, Lookabaugh fell in love with the Lowcountry and decided that it would be a great place to realize her dream to open a gallery and raise a family. In 2015, she moved to Hilton Head, SC and opened Muse Gallery Hilton Head. After three successful years in Hilton Head, Lookabaugh moved the gallery to Bluffton, SC in April of 2018 to be a part of the bustling art scene and gallery district. Lookabaugh has always been passionate about the arts and focuses on showcasing a dynamic group of contemporary artists from across the country.
"We purchased a home in Hilton Head and were in need of artwork to cover the many barren walls that seemed to echo in our open-concept home. At the time, we were really looking for that one special, oversized piece of art, to hang above our fireplace, in our formal living room. This piece would be the focal point/conversation piece of the room. The owner of Muse Gallery, Hali Lookabaugh, rose to the challenge. She visited our home initially to measure the space, and to look around and get a feel for what might work best. She also asked us questions of what we were thinking we would like to see. She took her notes, and our thoughts, and started to send us pictures of artwork, via email. Once we picked out some of the great pieces that Hali recommended, she brought them to our home, so that we could see them in the space. We decided on a wonderful piece from Robert Livsey Wells. Since purchasing that one initial, statement piece, we have continued to purchase other forms of art for our home; including, steel sculptures, abstracts on rusted sheets of steel, and clay vessels, to name a few. Hali’s advice and guidance was, and is priceless. Muse Gallery has a large selection of many forms of art that seems to speak for itself. Muse Gallery is a class act. I want to thank them publicly and I recommend them wholeheartedly.” -Sheri Newman
